Principal's Welcome

  Middlesex Elementary School

“Soaring to Greatness, Committed to Excellence!”

Dear Middlesex Families,

It is with great anticipation and pride that we welcome you and your child to Middlesex Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year.  Whether you are returning, or this is your first year at Middlesex, we are excited to connect with you and your child so that we can support the needs and goals of all of our learners. We are glad that you have chosen to call Middlesex Elementary your home and entrust your children to us. It is our goal to promote a positive atmosphere that is both student-centered and service-oriented.  We are determined to educate the entire child and to instill in our students a love for learning as well as respect for themselves and for each other. We strive to achieve that goal by providing unique and exceptional opportunities for our students. The start of a new school year comes with opportunities to set new goals, analyze new data, make new friends, build social skills, and develop new habits which will lead to future successes.

At the core of our daily work with students, we focus around the District Mission, Belief Statements, and Middlesex’s Building Goals. As a staff, we are confident that we will challenge your child academically, behaviorally, and socially.  We will be bringing Portrait of an Eagle to life this year at Middlesex while focusing on communication, confidence, critical thinking, and problem solving. We will also focus on guiding students as they take part in on-going reflection regarding their learning and setting learning goals for themselves to gauge where they are in relation to the learning targets and standards.

Parents and guardians, you are extremely important in helping us to create and maintain a positive and safe school culture and climate.  A strong school has strong parental support.  We are all working together for the benefit of our children.  We continually ask ourselves, “Is this practice best for students?” Our staff welcomes your involvement and support in the education of your child.  Therefore, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or the office throughout the year if you have any questions or concerns.

We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
(1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
(2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
(3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
(4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
(5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
(6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school

We are dedicated to promoting parent involvement throughout the school year. Middlesex benefits from a dynamic PTO that supports numerous activities to connect families and the community.  Our PTO meetings are posted on the building calendar each month and begin at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. We encourage families to join us and participate by sharing ideas at these meetings. Please take advantage of the many formal and informal opportunities that you will have to become involved at Middlesex this year!

It is our desire to keep you informed of all that is taking place at Middlesex, please look for additional communication throughout the year by exploring: (1) Middlesex’s website and links to curriculum, programs, calendar, and daily events, (2) information sent in the mail or home with students in their folders, (3) Seesaw, (4) School Messenger Alerts, (5) Facebook, and (6) Twitter.

In closing, please enjoy the remaining days of summer!  We look forward to seeing many new, and familiar faces, on our first day of school, Wednesday, August 23rd. "Mountain Lion Pride", We are looking forward to building strong and lasting relationships with you and your child this school year!

Respectfully,
Stephanie Eldridge
